HARRISBURG, AR (KAIT) - A Harrisburg officer had to be taken to the hospital Tuesday evening after trying to save animals from a fire.

According to Lt. Justin Kimble, Officer Adrian Todd was working a fire at a home on First Street.

He was trying to help a woman get her cats out when he was overwhelmed by the smoke.

He was taken to St. Bernards to be treated and released on Tuesday evening.

Kimble says he plans to go back to work next week.

Everyone in the home made it out safe. The fire was contained to one bedroom.
