JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 cab driver didn’t let a would-be robber scare him out of money.

According to a Jonesboro police report, the 66-year-old victim called them Monday night after a young man tried to rob him at gunpoint.

He said he drove to the Living Word Church on Southwest Drive to pick the suspect up.

The man told the driver to take him to Cordova Lane.

When they arrived at the destination, the suspect pulled out a black, semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the driver.

The driver said he didn’t have any money and the suspect asked again.

The driver said he “didn’t have long to live so go ahead and shoot,” according to the report.

The suspect then ran off and jumped into a small, tan car and left.

Police did call the number the driver had from the suspect, but no arrests have been made in the case.

If you have any information that can help police, call Crimestoppers anonymously at 935-7867 (STOP).
