CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Craighead County man has been found guilty of attempted murder.

According to Prosecutor Scott Ellington, Jesse Torres was convicted Wednesday, sentenced to 23 years in prison.

He was found not guilty of aggravated assault.

Torres was accused of shooting Tyler Anderson multiple times in November 2015.

It happened in the 2000-block of West Nettleton.

According to court documents, Anderson asked to borrow a phone from Torres. When told no, Anderson reportedly “became angry and slammed the door.”

Detective Chad Hogard stated Torres then opened the door and exchanged words with Anderson.

“Torres pulled out a gun and started shooting at Anderson, striking him multiple times” Hogard stated in the affidavit.

Anderson was shot in the face and in the abdomen. He was taken to a Little Rock hospital to be treated.
