Two arrested on drug charges and outstanding warrants

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department, 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Arkansas Department of Correction arrested two people Wednesday on multiple drug charges. 

According to a news release from the sheriff's department, deputies were searching for 30-year-old William Joshua Lewis of Gassville who had an outstanding felony drug warrant out for his arrest.  

The Norfork Police Department obtained a warrant after they found meth and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle Lewis was a passenger in during a traffic stop a few weeks ago.

Authorities went to an address in the Jordan area on Aug. 8 in search of Lewis and found 30-year-old Sarah Marie Lynn at the home. 

Lynn denied that Lewis was in the home and said she had not seen him in weeks. 

Authorities returned to the home on Aug. 10 and spoke with Lynn who again said Lewis was not there. 

An officer with the Arkansas Department of Community Correction officer the house for a search and found Lewis in the bathroom. 

According to the release, Lewis was flushing controlled substances down the sink. 

Lewis and Lynn were both taken into custody. 

During a search of the home, officers found 15 pills that were believed to be a combination of acetaminophen, codeine phosphate, and a schedule II controlled substance. 

Officers also found articles of drug paraphernalia, such as multiple smoking devices containing meth residue, multiple butane and propane touches, and a used syringe. 

A 9mm handgun was also found. 

Lewis was charged with the following: Possession of controlled substance, possession of Schedule II controlled substance with purpose to deliver, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms by certain persons, weapons possession during controlled substance offense, parole or probation violation and habitual offender penalty enhancement. 

Lynn was charged with the following: possession of Schedule II controlled substance with purpose to deliver, 2 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms by certain persons, weapons possession during controlled substance offense, 2 counts of  hindering apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of another, failure to appear, and habitual offender.
