K9 officer found alive with bullet wounds after shootout

SEBASTIAN COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A police dog that was missing after officers were shot earlier this week was found alive will bullet wounds.

The Greenwood Police Department released a video showing K9 Officer Kina being tended to on Friday.

Police state the officer was shot twice and has entrance and exit wounds.

Officer Kina is being treated by a veterinarian. Police say they will continue to provide updates about her condition.

The K9 officer was missing following a shootout in Sebastian County Wednesday morning.

Sebastian County Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Cooper died following that shooting.

The funeral for Deputy Cooper will be Aug. 16 in Fort Smith.

Suspected shooter, Billy Monroe Jones, is in the Crawford County Detention Center.
