LEACHVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Leachville school is short several computers after someone broke into the school and stole them before school starts.

According to Leachville Police Chief Marc Taylor, the department got a call around 4:30 Monday morning of a break-in of a local restaurant.

Shortly after police received another break-in call from Buffalo Island Central East Elementary School.

Taylor said the suspects stole some change from the restaurant and stole 20 Google Chrome laptops from the school.

He also said the suspects went through several rooms in the school and vandalized the teacher lounge.

"They went through all the rooms on the north end of the building, turned on all the computers, most of the computers on the north end. Then went to the teachers' lounge and destroyed the snack vending machine in the teachers' lounge," Taylor said.

Taylor said the department has three suspects in custody for the break-ins.

"We have been working hard on this since Monday morning when we got the call," Taylor said.

Taylor said the surveillance video around town and at the school helped the department in the investigation.

"There is surveillance video all over town of them," Taylor said. "If it hadn't been for the surveillance video we probably wouldn't have caught them as quickly as we did."

Names of the suspect have not been released because the case is still under investigation.

Taylor said one laptop has been recovered.

Anyone with information on the incident can call the department at 870-539-6713.
