JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Gunfire erupted this past weekend, leading Jonesboro police to investigate three shooting reports in three days.

The first shooting happened just before midnight Friday night in the 700-block of Gladiolus where a woman claimed a named suspect had shot at her car.

Police responding to the scene could not find the suspect, but they did discover five 9mm shell casings on the ground across from the woman’s apartment.

The second shooting happened just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 300-block of Garden Manor.

The three victims told police one of the two named suspects threatened to shoot anyone that stepped inside an apartment where several people were fighting, according to the incident report.

The man then passed the gun to the other suspect who “started shooting at them,” the report stated.

Again, police did not find the suspects but did find three 9mm shell casings outside the apartment.

The weekend ended with a third shooting reported at 1:56 a.m. Monday in the 1200-block of Links Circle.

The victim said a man, along with two others, knocked on his door then pointed an AK-47 at him when he opened it.

The victim slammed the door and ran to a bedroom, the incident report stated. Once inside the bedroom, he heard a gunshot and later saw that someone had shot through the window.

Police responding to the scene reported finding a shell casing.

While police do not believe the shooting incidents are related, they do have one common theme: in each case, the victims were reportedly reluctant to talk with officers.

Anyone with information on these reported shootings can leave an anonymous tip at Crimestoppers, 935-STOP (7867).
