A-State Volleyball to Hold Scrimmage Wednesday

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/16/16) – The Arkansas State volleyball team will hold an intra-squad scrimmage Wednesday, Aug. 17 at the Convocation Center at 5 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public as it will allow fans a chance to watch the 2016 Red Wolves in action before the regular season gets underway.

Fans wishing to attend the scrimmage should use the Yellow Entrance of the Convocation Center as it is the only entrance that will be open for the event.

"I'm very excited to give our fans a chance to see us in action prior to the season starting," A-State head volleyball coach David Rehr said. "We've been working hard since fall camp started and I like our progress so far. It'll be nice to get out and compete in front of someone other than ourselves and I hope our local fans will make it out to support us. I believe they will like where the team is at right now and be even more excited for our home opener Sept. 8 against UCA."

Additionally, the team was ranked 50th in PrepVolleyball.com's Preseason Top 50 rankings released by the online publication Tuesday and received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Top 25 recently.

The 2015 season was a monumental success that saw A-State register a 28-2 record, a perfect 16-0 mark in SBC play, a conference tournament championship, and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1999 and fifth overall in program history.

The 2016 season gets underway for A-State Aug. 26 at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas with a 3 p.m. match against Northwestern State.
