HEBER SPRINGS, AR (KAIT) -

A swim beach on Greers Ferry Lake has been closed until further notice.

According to a news release by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, high E. coli levels at the beach forced the temporary closure.

It’s the one on the right side of the causeway heading to "Trouble Island" in Dam Site Park.

Arkansas Department of Health officials found the higher than acceptable levels of E. coli during routine testing and don’t recommend swimming in these areas.

They will reopen the beach when the levels go down.

The Corps asks residents to not feed the geese because, according to ADH, their droppings could cause high bacteria levels.

This is the second time a swimming beach on this lake has been closed because of E. coli levels.
