Missing Oregon boys found in Arkansas

JACKSON COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Two children missing from Oregon have been found in Region 8.

Two brothers, ages 9 and 10, were reported missing from their Portland, OR home on Aug. 11, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the mother had custody of the boys but when a report was filed with Oregon's Department of Human Services, she fled with the children.

Oregon DHS contacted the sheriff's office with a possible address, along with a protective custody warrant to take the brothers into Arkansas DHS custody.

Deputies made several attempts Monday morning to locate the children, but were unsuccessful.

Their investigation, however, led them to a Bald Knob school in White County where the mother had apparently enrolled them.

Jackson County deputies, along with DHS agents from Jackson and White Counties, and Bald Knob police located the children and placed them into protective custody.

The children, according to the release, are now headed back to Oregon.

No word on what, if any, charges the mother will face either here in Arkansas or Oregon.
