JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Craighead County District Court judge found probable cause Thursday to charge a Jonesboro man with video voyeurism after police say he confessed to videotaping two women while they showered.
On Tuesday, a 25-year-old woman told police while she was trying to take a shower her roommate, 21-year-old Virlan Garyuen Lee, "attempted to slide his phone under her locked door and capture video of her."
The woman said she alerted her other roommate, who came to her defense, and "witnessed the ordeal," the initial incident report stated.
The victim said she "promptly left the residence" and later moved out.
According to court documents, during an interview Wednesday with detectives, Lee "admitted to recording the victim on two different occasions."
The affidavit said Lee then admitted to recording a second woman who had previously lived at the residence while she showered on two different occasions.
Police arrested Lee and took him to the Craighead County Detention Center. On Thursday he appeared in district court where a judge found probable cause to charge him with the crime of video voyeurism, a Class D felony, and set his bond at $10,000.
If convicted, Lee could be fined as much as $10,000 and receive up to 6 years in prison.
