Heavy rains cause flooding issues around Region 8

Heavy rains hit Region 8 hard Friday morning leading to flash flooding in some areas.

According to Lawrence County Dispatch, Midway Road in Hoxie was dealing with flooding.

Traffic was also slow moving at Midway Road and U.S. Business 67 between Hoxie and Walnut Ridge.

Floodwaters also reach some businesses in Walnut Ridge.

Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp stated, at one point, West Main Street near the Lawrence Memorial Hospital was one lane due to flooding.

The mayor reports this is significant flooding for his city.

In Craighead County, Brookland School Road experienced flooding in ditches which are full and overflowing.

Bono also had floodwaters nearly reaching some homes.
