BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A hearing has been set on a lawsuit that aims to get an Independence County alcohol sales measure on the November ballot.

The group Keep Our Dollars In Independence County sued Independence County Clerk Tracey Mitchell, claiming that the clerk improperly rejected 424 signatures on petitions to qualify for the ballot. The Batesville Daily Guard reports (http://bit.ly/2b6lVTb ) that the group was found to be 377 signatures short to qualify for a public vote.

The proposed ballot measure would legalize alcohol sales in the county. A hearing is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday in the case.

Mitchell told the newspaper earlier this month that she followed state law when validating the petitions.
