JONESBORO, Ark. (8/19/16) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team released its schedule for the 2016-17 season Friday with 10 tournaments on the slate, including its host tournament, the Mid-Winter Invitational, along with the Southland Bowling League Championship at the conclusion of the regular season.

The Red Wolves begin the campaign with a trip to Orlando, Fla., for the Wildcat Invitational Oct. 21-23 before competing in the Track Kat Klash in Houston, Texas Nov. 4-6. A-State concludes the fall portion of its schedule with a trip to Kenosha, Wis., for the Warhawk Classic Nov. 11-13.

“I feel like this is a very competitive schedule for our team,” A-State head women’s bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “We will get a chance to compete against most of the top teams in the nation at some point during the season and that’s huge for us. We have a couple of tournaments we haven’t been to in previous years for a new feel and a couple of our usual competitions have either changed venues or dates so it will have a different feel to them as well.”

A-State starts the spring portion of its schedule with its host tournament, the Mid-Winter Invitational, set for Jan. 13-15 at the Hijinx Family Entertainment Center in Jonesboro. The team will hit the road to Arlington, Texas for the Prairie View A&M Invitational Jan. 27-29 to close out the month.

The squad travels to Conroe, Texas Feb. 10-12 for the Stephen F. Austin Jacks Invitational and goes to Richton Park, Ill., the next weekend for the Crusader Classic. Arkansas State begins March with a trip to Lincoln, Neb., for the Big Red Invite March 2-4 before heading to the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn., March 17-19 as the team looks to defend its title from a season ago.

A-State, the defending Southland Bowling League Champions, will go for its second straight title March 25-26 at a location that hasn’t been determined yet.

The NCAA Tournament is set for April 13-15 in Baton Rouge, La., as the Red Wolves will attempt to qualify for their 10th consecutive appearance in the National Championship event.
