Woman accused of spitting on jailer charged with assault

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) - A Marmaduke woman faces aggravated assault charges after investigators say she spat on a jailer.

On Saturday, Aug. 20, Walnut Ridge police arrested Ada Dumonte, 32, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

While being booked into the Lawrence County Detention Center, Dumonte became "combative" and got into an "altercation with jail staff," according to an email from Sgt. Jamie White of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.

The altercation reportedly escalated and a supervisor was contacted. When the supervisor arrived, White said "Dumonte continued to fight and, at one point, spit in the face of the supervisor."

She appeared in district court on Monday, Aug. 22, where a judge found probable cause to charge her and set her bond at $7,500.

She is currently free on bond.
