JPD arrests man suspected in string of burglaries

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Jonesboro police arrested a man suspected in a string of commercial burglaries.

Following Tuesday’s arrest, Kenneth Atherton-Ely, 34, of Jonesboro faces charges of commercial burglary and theft of property.

According to a news release from Sgt. Cassie Brandon with the police department, detectives recovered evidence in a string of commercial burglaries that began around Aug. 7.

It’s believed the discoveries will close at least six cases.

Detectives Mike McCanless and Vic Brooks recovered numerous items taken from businesses throughout the city.

Atherton-Ely is currently being held in police custody, awaiting a probable cause hearing.
