Judge rules against group working to get wet/dry vote on ballot

INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - An Independence County Circuit Judge has ruled against a group working to get the wet/dry issue on the November ballot.

The group Keep Our Dollars in Independence County was 377 signatures short of the 7,996 signatures needed to put the measure on the ballot.

The group claims the county clerk's office improperly rejected 423 valid signatures, according to Courtney Coggins.

Judge Tim Weaver ruled in favor of the county clerk, saying he was bound by state laws.

Coggins said the group will appeal the decision.
