JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The city of Jonesboro will host two meetings next week to discuss flood insurance.

One meeting will be held for the public, while the other will be geared towards insurance providers, realtors, and bankers.

Both will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

National Flood Insurance Program liaison Carl Watts of the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be at the meetings.

The first meeting held for bankers, real estate agents, and insurance providers will focus on the Oct. 1 FEMA changes.

The second meeting for homeowners and renters will focus on the details of flooding insurance and how to get it.

"We are working hard to provide adequate drainage, but the flooding we and other parts of the country are seeing is unprecedented," Mayor Harold Perrin said. "In case of another flood, many more of our citizens may need to consider insurance coverage."

The first meeting for professionals runs from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the second will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Public Works training room, 2601 Dan Ave.
