JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Railroad crossings along Highway 49 in Jonesboro were closed Wednesday morning after an accident between a semi-trailer truck and a train.

Craighead County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Philip Vanwinkle said the semi- trailer truck attempted to cross the railroad crossing at Highway 49 and Busch Agricultural Resources and failed to yield to a Union Pacific train heading southbound.

Vanwinkle said the train struck the trailer of the semi, causing it to flip over and the grain inside of it to spill.

Vanwinkle reported damage to the train and semi-trailer but no injuries for either driver.

The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, as well as representatives with Union Pacific, were on the scene assessing the crash.

A Union Pacific police officer on the scene could not comment on whether or not an investigation into the accident was going to take place.
