LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Lawrence County sheriff's deputies arrested two people suspected of breaking into a local church.

On Aug. 13, members of Lake Charles Full Gospel Church reported an unknown person entered the church and stole a safe containing $400.

Jaime White, a detective with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, said they were able to make the arrests with a little help.

"We were working with the community and the church to gather information," White said. "We were able to come up with a couple names, persons of interest. Yesterday we pursued those leads."

Andrew Yun, 18, was one of the names they were given and the other was a male juvenile.

White said the suspects informed them that they emptied the safe and threw it into the Black River.

White explained that he is unsure if they will be able to recover the safe stating that with the recent flooding, it would not be safe for the dive team.

Following the interviews, deputies arrested both suspects for commercial burglary and theft of property.

White said, in his experience, these county churches are targets to some because of how isolated they are from others.
