Batesville man killed in pedestrian accident

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) -

A man on the side of an Independence County highway died Thursday morning when a pickup truck hit him.

According to an Arkansas State Police crash report, a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and a 2008 Chevy Pickup were stopped on the side of Hwy. 106 at Wilson Circle because of an accident.

Shortly after 7 a.m., a 1999 Chevy pickup struck the 2 stationary cars, which caused one of them to hit Jimmy D. Sanders, 52, of Batesville.

Sanders died in the crash.

The report states crews took the drivers of the 3 vehicles to a Batesville hospital for treatment.

Among the injured was the driver of the Jeep Cherokee Debra R. Sanders, 50, of Batesville, and the driver of the 2008 pickup Brian Lindsey, 37, of Batesville.

The other injured driver was in the 1999 pickup and was listed as a minor with no further information.
