JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

More Jonesboro police officers will soon hit the streets.

An official ceremony was held at St. Bernard’s Auditorium Friday afternoon.

12 recruits graduated after 15 weeks of extensive training.

“They learned about search and seizure, about police procedure, policy, firearms, pursuit driving, domestic violence, K9 operation,” said Jonesboro police Sergeant Cassie Brandon. “Pretty much anything we do at Jonesboro and anything that we might do in police work then they were exposed to it.”

Officer Connor Baldwin added the recruits joined for one simple reason, they wanted to help.

“We're here to help others,” said Baldwin. “We're here to make sure society as a whole is going good and everybody's doing good, doing well. And if anybody ever needs us we're there for them. We just want to make sure everybody's safe and doesn't have anything to worry about.”

The new officers will start work on Monday.
