JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Following the verdict and sentencing in the Brad Bartelt case, Region 8 News spoke exclusively with one of the jurors on Friday.
We asked how and why the jury came to the conclusion to charge Bartelt in the case, they answered: "We carefully considered and reviewed all of the evidence, testimonies, and facts of the case to come to our decision."
When asked what factors came into play when determining Bartelt's sentence, they replied "We considered the severity of the crime and all of the details of the case. We did the best we could to come to the most fair decision for Mr. Bartelt."
We also asked the juror, a former Arkansas State student, what their reaction was when they heard about the incident back in December when Bartelt entered the campus. They replied: "When I heard what was happening on campus that day, I was very concerned for the campus community and hoped the situation would end peacefully."
