It will be the Jonesboro mayoral debate of record. Today, the hard-working journalists at Region 8 News announced a live debate with all 6 candidates for Jonesboro mayor.
The debate will take place exactly 1 month before election day on October 11 at 6 p.m., live on both of KAIT's television stations.
I think everyone would agree this November's race for Jonesboro mayor is highly anticipated and brings up some serious questions about the future of Jonesboro and the far-reaching impact on all of Region 8.
Picking a neutral location for this debate was a real focus for us. The neutral location is Jonesboro High School. The public is invited to join us at JHS that night on a first come, first served basis, and admission will be a donation to the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas.
Our moderator is Talk Business and Politics Executive Producer Roby Brock, an Arkansas political analyst that is respected among the candidates and voters because he has a reputation for being down the line fair.
In the coming weeks, we will announce the subjects and format. Our goal is to make sure your voice is heard.... down the middle, no ax to grind, and making sure not to put any candidate above the others.
That's what you have expected from everyone at Region 8 News for decades and that is the mission now.
So join us for the Jonesboro mayoral debate of record, October 11 right here on both KAIT stations. Coming together, giving all the candidates a chance to be heard and making sure our viewers are represented makes this A Better Region 8.
