Couple arrested after domestic disturbance

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A husband and wife were both arrested Sunday night after Jonesboro police responded to a domestic disturbance between them.

According to the incident report, officers responded to the Days Inn Hotel on Phillips Drive for a reported overdose.

Police found Sarah D. Williams-Rorex in a hotel room claiming that her husband, Matthew Rorex, punched her in the face before leaving.

Sarah claimed Matthew got angry because she smoked one of his cigarettes.

She said he then punched her in the face two times.

The report stated that Sarah’s upper lip was swollen and bruised. Her eye was also swollen and bruised and her nose was bleeding.

When officers found Matthew Rorex, he claimed that Sarah had been hitting herself.

He said that Sarah was mentally unstable and had been taking Klonopin.

An officer did state in the report that Matthew “seemed to possibly be under the influence of methamphetamine and was sweating and talking rapidly.”

They both confirmed that Sarah was around three weeks pregnant.

Matthew was arrested and charged with a felony for third-degree battery on a pregnant woman and a parole violation.

Sarah was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of Jonesboro. She also has a warrant through Paragould police. 

She was first taken to the hospital to be treated.
