BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A police pursuit resulted in finding a gun and ammunition as well as three arrests.
Capt. Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department said officers were called just before 8:30 a.m Tuesday to the area of 1st St. and Coleridge St. They responded in regards to a group of males shooting.
Adams states that when officers arrived they found Devon Rainey, 19, driving away from the area in a blue car. Several males in the car appeared to be nervous.
A traffic stop was initiated, but Adams states the car fled from officers.
Following a police chase, the car stopped in a driveway in the 1000-block of S. Franklin.
Officers pulled behind the car and saw 20-year-old Raheem Dixon and another unknown black male get out of the car with "what appeared to be multiple guns in their arms." Both ran south of the residence.
Police followed the men, but only recovered a loaded Glock 9 mm.
Rainey and another suspect were arrested.
Adams states officers found the following inside a gun case in the back seat of the car:
- Glock .45 magazine
- Glock 9 mm magazine
- Glock .40 magazine
- Smith and Wesson .40 magazine
- Three .22 magazines
- Several 9 mm bullets
Police also report finding an open box of .22-caliber rounds.
While waiting on a wrecker, Adams states officers noticed Dixon standing at the corner of Franklin and McHaney. He was taken into custody.
Dixon, Rainey, and the third suspect were transported to the police department to be interviewed.
Dixon faces charges of possession of a firearm by certain person and fleeing. He will be arraigned in district court Wednesday.
Rainey faces charges of vehicular fleeing, driving on suspended license and an outstanding failure to appear warrant.
The third suspect is not being charged at this time, according to Adams.
