JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man's car and home were shot Tuesday night.
Multiple calls of shots fired near the 1800 block of E. Johnson Avenue came into the Jonesboro Police Department around 10 p.m. Tuesday. The suspects were listed as three black males in a dark SUV.
Approximately an hour later, a man called the police to let them know that his vehicle and home were shot.
The man told police that shortly after he came home from a football game at Arkansas State he heard gunshots. The man told police he didn't think much of it because "it was common on the north side."
He also stated that he wasn't going to contact police at first but he was "urged by his brother." The man said when he realized his car had been shot too, it gave him more incentive to call.
Officer Rodney Smith said the rear window of the man's car was shot. The bullet then entered the dash of the car.
A second bullet hit the window of the man's home. The bullet continued through the wall into the kitchen, passed through a cabinet and glanced off another wall. The first windowpane of a sliding glass door shattered but the bullet did not exit the home.
Two 9mm shell casings were found in the parking lot not far from the victim's vehicle.
The man told police he wasn't on bad terms with anyone.
During Officer Jacob Daffron's investigation of the scene, he was contacted by employees of a nearby business. They stated two people were at a car wash across the street acting suspiciously.
"They stated that the subjects had washed their car several times and were 'watching' our investigation," Officer Daffron said.
Officers checked the area to match the description of the suspects from the shots fired call. They were unable to locate anyone.
