JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Friday kicked off football season at Arkansas State University. Ahead of the home opener, A-State officials warned of changes in traffic patterns on campus.

The school closed down part of University Loop earlier this year so they could begin construction of new on-campus graduate housing.

Arkansas State University Executive Director of Marketing and Communications Bill Smith said they don't want fans getting caught in a dead end or a construction area when they're trying to get to the stadium.

"For our fans that come to football games, many are accustomed to using University Loop to come out through Academic. Academic and Faculty are no longer connected because of the construction," Smith said. "We've had a temporary connection that currently has been removed due to construction and that is the part that we know fans are accustomed to driving on that old temporary road that is simply no longer there."

As per usual, numerous law enforcement agencies were on hand along with traffic coordinators to ensure people safely got on and off campus.
