JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police said a woman faces an animal cruelty charge after she left a small three to four months old dog in a hot car.
Police were dispatched to Lowe's Home Improvement, 2111 Fair Park Boulevard, on Sunday afternoon where they found a dog left in a Chevrolet Malibu.
After it took about 11 minutes for an officer to arrive, police say the dog was panting very heavily.
According to the police report, the temperature was 91 degrees outside.
The officer took the dog out of the car and said it "was very warm to the touch." He then put it in the back of his patrol car.
Several minutes later, the woman driving the car, Edranique Cullins, 25, came out of the store.
Police cited her for animal cruelty.
Cullins is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19, 2016.
