MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - The mother of a 2-year-old girl who died in May has been charged with manslaughter and permitting child abuse in the case.
The Baxter Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/2ctM1OP ) that 21-year-old Anastasia Weaver was arrested on the charges Friday. Jail records do not list an attorney for her.
Weaver is charged in Marion County in the May 6 death of 2-year-old Alithia Ivory Boyd. The girl died at a Missouri hospital where she was taken after Weaver and her boyfriend - 23-year-old Cody Allen - said the child had fallen down stairs at their home in Flippin.
Investigators say the child's injuries were not consistent with such a fall.
Allen is now charged with capital murder in the girl's death. He has pleaded not guilty.
