NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) -

Newport’s Depot Days Festival will include a new addition this year.

The Delta Blues Tent will offer free performances from music groups the Deltatones and the Memphis All-Stars.

The bands say they will bring a new and diverse musical experience to the city.

The Deltatones are led by guitarist Joe Castrodale who grew up playing music in Detroit, Michigan and performed with music superstars Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Bootsy Collins and the Allman Brothers.

The other members of the band are veterans of the blues music scene in Memphis, Little Rock, and Austin, Texas.

The Memphis All-Stars rose to international fame in the 1970s with guitarist Greg Redding, who began his career in Black Oak, Arkansas, leading the group and R&B keyboard player reminiscent of Stevie Wonder.

The Memphis All-Stars say their performance is sure to please any fan of Motown, Stax, and R&B.

Performances at the Delta Blues Tent will begin Sept. 23 on Hazel Street in Downtown Newport.

The Deltatones are scheduled for perform at 7 p.m. and the Memphis All-Stars will hit the stage at 8:15 p.m.
