ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Lyon volleyball player Madisson Williams has been named the American Midwest Conference defensive player of the week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
This is Williams’s first conference player of the week award of her career.
Williams was very active on the defensive side for the Scots over the weekend. Williams totaled 96 digs in four matches over the weekend. Williams had her best match against Jarvis Christian College (Texas), in which she tallied a career high 39 digs. She also accumulated eight assists and eight service aces for the weekend.
She also posted a pair of 21 dig outings against Crowley’s Ridge College (Ark.) and Philander-Smith College (Ark.).
Williams and the Scots swept a pair of opponents – 3-0 in Crowley’s Ridge College on Friday, and Tougaloo College (Miss.) on Saturday. The Scots also defeated Jarvis Christian and Philander-Smith College 3-1, to stay undefeated on the season at 5-0.
The Hot Springs, Ark., native is currently ranked ninth in the nation with 6.24 digs per game, and 21st with 0.76 service aces per game.
Williams and the Scots travel to NCAA Division II the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
