OSCEOLA, AR (KAIT) - Osceola High School's football stadium is the first in the state with LED lighting.
The addition is just one of the major changes coming to the stadium after a millage increase passed in July.
Superintendent Mike Cox said the lighting will be high definition quality.
The field will be much brighter, the bulbs will last longer, and will also save the district 85% on energy.
"We'll actually be able to put an app on our phones and be able to control our lights," Cox said. "We can turn them on and off with the app. Of course, LED lights, when you turn them off and turn them right back on, it's not like other lights and have to warm back up."
Cox said he is excited to be on the cutting edge of technology.
He also said the district is in the process of laying AstroTurf on the field and working on the new track.
