Lyon volleyball falls to NCAA Division II UAM

Scots fight back in third set, eventually fall to Blossoms

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon volleyball team fought back in the third set of its match with NCAA Division II the University of Arkansas-Monticello Wednesday night, but eventually fell 3-0 (13-25, 15-25, 19-25).

Lyon is now 5-1 to start the year, while Arkansas-Monticello is 1-4.

BY THE NUMBERS                                                                                                              

6 – Katarina Frickleton and Samantha Scalf each totaled six kills. The Scots tallied 28 for the match.

9 – Jordan Dabdub led the Scots with nine assists on the night.

10 – Recently named AMC Defensive Player of the Week Madisson Williams had 10 digs. Haley Clem was second with six.

14 – Arkansas-Monticello had 14 service aces, led by Carolina Gasparini's seven.


Lyon faced a tough opponent in the Blossoms at the Steelman Field House. Arkansas-Monticello was able to hold off Lyon in the first two sets, jumping out to a big lead in the first one.

The Scots managed to climb back into the match holding a small lead of 13-11 at one point. UAM was able to make a run and eventually fended off the Scots to claim the sweep.

Lyon continues its road trip as they travel to Jackson, Mississippi for the Belhaven Classic. The Scots will take on Williams Baptist on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by Mississippi College at 7 p.m., also on Friday. Lyon then continues the tournament on Saturday with matches against Huntingdon College (Ala.) at 11 a.m., and Belhaven University (Miss.) at 3 p.m.
