Mayo Shoots 82 to Lead Lady Bisons in Round 2 of Central Region Preview

OLATHE, Kan. - Freshman Zhane Mayo shot her second straight round in the 80s Wednesday to lead the Harding women's golf team at the Central Region Fall Preview.

Mayo, a native of Hastings, England, shot 10-over 82 in the second round after an opening-round 86. Her 168 total tied her for 46th in the 90-player field.

"We've got a bright spot in freshman Zhane Mayo," Harding head coachDustin Howell said.

Harding's team shot 360 in the second round, nine strokes better than its first-round score, and finished in 18th place at 729.

"The ladies found ways to improve on yesterday's scores," Howell said. "We have a list of things to focus on in a short week before heading to Oklahoma." The Lady Bisons play Monday and Tuesday at the 18th annual NSU Women's Golf Classic in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Shi Qing Ong of Missouri Western was the individual medalist, shooting a 5-over 149 to win by one stroke. Central Oklahoma won the team competition by 14 strokes, finishing at 611.

Harding's other golfers included freshman Bryle Alcorn (t-82nd, 183), sophomore Delaney Bowles (86th, 186), freshman Carlee Freeman (87th, 192), and sophomore Taytum Billington (89th, 197).
