JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A grant awarded to the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas will provide fresh produce for those in need.
The King Foundation gave $33,804.
The food bank will use the money to supply fresh produce to area food pantries and soup kitchens.
The very first delivery was made Thursday morning to the Helping Neighbors Food Pantry in Jonesboro.
People like Kelli Kissinger said this helps tremendously.
She said not only would they struggle to put food on the table, but the cost of fresh produce makes it harder.
"It's wonderful to have fresh produce. I love to cook with fresh produce rather than canned stuff. My husband is a diabetic. This is wonderful," Kissinger said.
The money ensures the produce program remains permanent.
