Man cited after dogs attack animal control officer

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police cited a man after they say his dogs chased a woman and charged an animal control officer.

A Jonesboro woman reported Thursday morning that two dogs chased her while she walked her dog in the 4100-block of Aggie Road.

The woman said she used an umbrella to fend off the animals. A neighbor heard her screams and ran out to help her.

When Officer Jeff Moore arrived at the scene, one of the two dogs barked and charged him.

Moore raised his voice and the dogs ran to the back of a house. He followed the dogs and found them and a third on the patio.

According to his incident report, all three dogs then charged him.

Moore used a "bite stick" to keep the animals off of him and radioed for help.

Two officers responded and, using pepper spray, they stopped the dogs from attacking then put leashes on them and took them to Jonesboro Animal Control.

When the owner, 37-year-old Christopher Conway, arrived at JAC Moore cited him with three counts of dog at large, three counts of no state rabies, and three counts of harboring a dangerous dog.
