CARUTHERSVILLE, MO - U.S. Senator Kit Bond will be in southeast Missouri this morning to discuss law enforcement's ongoing efforts to battle the manufacture and use of methamphetamine in the Bootheel.

Bond will be joined by members of the Bootheel Regional Drug Task Force at the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office in Caruthersville.  In 2000, Bond secured the initial funding to begin the Missouri Sheriffs Methamphetamine Relief  Team (MOSMART) to combat the state's meth problems.  Since the inception of MOSMART, regional drug task forces and sheriff departments from throughout the state have coordinated statewide efforts to fight meth.

K8 News will have a crew at this morning's meeting, and will have a report tonight on K8 News at Six.
