Harding Golf: Alex Williamson in Top 20 after Round 1 at Nebraska-Kearney

AXTELL, Neb. - Harding senior Alex Williamson shot 1-over 73 and is only five strokes off the lead after the first of three rounds at the UNK Invitational, hosted Monday by Nebraska-Kearney at the par-72, 7,001-yard Awarii Dunes.
Williamson and the Bisons are tied for 14th place of 20 teams. Harding finished 31 holes and will complete its second round before playing the entire third round Tuesday. The Bisons shot 306 in their first round of the 2016-17 season.
"Alex is in the best form of his career," Harding head coach Dustin Howellsaid. "It was very windy and chilly today but those conditions did not affect him. He's playing rock solid."
Host Nebraska-Kearney leads the tournament at 286, three strokes ahead of Missouri Southern State. Jay Cottam of Nebraska-Kearney and Sam Berry of Southeastern Oklahoma are tied for the individual lead at 4-under 68.
