STONE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Stone County man faces numerous charges after fighting deputies, escaping custody and hiding in the woods naked.

According to Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds, 27-year-old Joshua Kirby, of Mountain View, was initially arrested on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Sheriff Bonds said Kirby was drunk and arguing with a woman when a deputy tried to detain him. Kirby began fighting the deputy, hitting him and biting him.

According to a report, Kirby was “growling like a dog.”

A Mountain View police officer and another sheriff’s deputy were called to help and tased Kirby, but it had no effect.

The deputies and officer eventually handcuffed Kirby and placed him into a police cruiser while he was still fighting them and growling.

He was taken to the Stone County Detention Center. The deputies were treated for their injuries.

On Monday, Kirby was being treated at the Stone County Medical Center when he bolted from the hospital while in shackles and handcuffs.

According to a second report, the deputy tried to chase him but couldn’t.

Deputies tracked Kirby into a wooded area near the hospital.

He was finally found two hours later naked and hiding underneath a log.

Kirby is charged with escape, battery, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.
