BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A group of people has been dropping off pink donation bags door-to-door in Blytheville, but a local shelter is warning residents not to donate to them.
The group claims to be donating to a new shelter, but the Haven of Northeast Arkansas said that isn't true.
The bags began circulating on Friday.
Phyllis McClendon, the executive director for the Haven said after doing more research she learned there was no new shelter opening in the state.
That is when she realized she had to let others know about the bags.
"When we got to work on Monday morning people started calling us asking us when we were going to pick up our pink bags," McClendon said. "So,we had to go into a damage control mode."
The Blytheville Police Department said the bags seem "suspicious" but they are still working through the details.
The Haven hopes to get the word out so that others know this is not a donation to them.
