JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The Jonesboro Police Department promoted three officers to new ranks on Thursday.

During the ceremony, Cooper Taylor was promoted to Lieutenant.

Shon Morris and Brandon King were both promoted to Sergeant.

Captain Kelly Baggett, of the Uniform Patrol Division, was among those on the force who attended the ceremony.

“It's a very special time when the officers get a chance to be leaders of our department,” said Baggett. “They all have to be strong leaders, they’ve been educated, they’ve received training, we have confidence in them as a leadership of our department.”

The officer's families were also at the ceremony to pin them as a part of their promotion.

Their promotions will be effective Friday.
