WEINER, AR (KAIT) -

A Region 8 Girl Scout troop is hoping to help the community while also furthering their scouting journey.

The Weiner Junior and Cadette Girl Scout Troops are holding a donation drive called, Clean Sweep Drive.

The group wants to collect 200 personal hygiene and cleaning products to donate to the Weiner Outreach Center.

The Weiner Outreach Center gives out clothes, food, and personal hygiene items for free to anyone who is in need.

The troop will be at the Cardinal Community Center in Weiner Saturday, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Items they would like to collect include shampoo, conditioner, lotion, baby wipes, paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, razors, towels, washcloths, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.

This community service drive is helping the girls reach their goal of obtaining their Bronze Award.

The Bronze Award is the highest award a Junior in Girl Scouting can receive.

The Cardinal Community Center is located at 313 N. Garfield St. in Weiner.
