TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - After hearing concerns from school bus drivers, the Trumann Police Department is cautioning drivers to follow the bus stop laws for the road.

The department recently warned drivers through a post on their Facebook page.

They said drivers were going around buses or not stopping at all when buses were stopped.

The department hopes by spreading the word, people will be more cautious on the road.

"The top concern is always safety. The safety of the children and also the same thing for the bus drivers, I'm sure they have a frustrating enough job trying to make sure everybody's safe," said Captain Gary W. Henry Sr.

Drivers are required to stop and wait until the bus has unloaded and is back in motion with their lights off before they continue driving.

If anyone is caught disobeying this law in Trumann, they could face a nearly $400 ticket.

The department said they are being proactive and hopes drivers will be too.
