CONWAY, S.C. (9/16/16) – The Arkansas State women's soccer dropped its Sun Belt Conference opener to Coastal Carolina 4-0 Friday afternoon at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

A-State sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Ponder made 10 saves on the night as the Chanticleers landed 14 of their 18 shots on goal. It is the second time this season that Ponder has had double-digit saves in a game.

The first goal came off the foot of Daniella Famili, while Brooke Horist and Alexis Siegel scored the next two goal. Alexis Magruder rounded out the scoring with her first goal of the year with a shot from outside the 18-yard box into the upper corner of the box.

A-State took a shot in the 29th minute off the Lindsey Brochu but the attempt sailed high. The Red Wolves also had an opportunity to score off a set piece in the 9th minute off a corner kick by Tayler Carter and again in the 29th minute, but both opportunities missed their mark.

The Red Wolves return to action Sunday, Sept. 18 against Troy. Kickoff for the match is set for 1 p.m. and live stats will be provided on AStateStats.com.
