Women’s Soccer Falls at Texas A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE, Texas - Texas A&M-Commerce scored three second-half goals to defeat the Harding women's soccer team 3-0 in non-conference action on Friday. The teams didn't kick off until 52 minutes after the scheduled 7 p.m., start due to weather in the area.


Harding falls to 3-2-0 on the season and Texas A&M-Commerce improves to 3-2-0.


Texas A&M-Commerce 1, Harding 0 - 50th minute - Sophie Haywood sent a cross into the box and Delany Benselmeyer headed it in.

Texas A&M-Commerce 2, Harding 0 - 52nd minute - Anitra Wright hit a shot from outside the 18-yard box and found the upper right corner for the goal.

Texas A&M-Commerce 3, Harding 0 - 84th minute - Savannah Grasser converted a penalty kick.


Harding took 11 shots in the game and five were on goal.

Five players for the Lady Bisons played the full 90 minutes.

Texas A&M-Commerce took 15 shots and six were on goal.


Sophomore Bethany Sutherland led the team with four shots. Rachel Baconand Melanie Matkins each added two shots.


Harding will open Great American Conference play on Thursday when it travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma to face Oklahoma Baptist at 6 p.m.
