IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Officers in one Region 8 sheriff’s office really dove into their work.

The Izard County Sheriff’s Department conducted search and rescue training Friday at Crown Lake in Horseshoe Bend.

Deputies Cody Cruse, D. J. Tiernan, and Jaden Whitfield participated in diver training while Lt. Charlie Melton, Sgt. Gabe Sanders, and Chief Deputy Earnie Blackley received sonar training.

According to Sheriff Tate Lawrence, the department recently purchased the sonar and a drone.

“Both machines will be of great benefit,” he said.
