JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are investigating an alleged sexual assault at Parker Park involving a juvenile.
Sergeant Cassie Brandon said officers responded to the park Saturday afternoon.
Some teens who were at the park during the alleged assault told Region 8 News the victim passed out at which time they noticed boys running from the area.
An ambulance took the victim to a local hospital.
Brandon said although they do have a suspect in mind, detectives urge witnesses to come forward.
"We just want to make sure we speak to the victim and make sure we have what she says happened, and make sure we have that right and then speak with the suspect at some point," Brandon said. "If there were any witnesses, and I don't know if there were or not, but if there were any witnesses, then obviously we want to talk to them as well."
Brandon also said it appears that the alleged suspect is not a stranger to the victim.
According to police, both the suspect and victim are juveniles, therefore their names cannot be released.
Region 8 News will continue to track the latest information involving this case.
Brandon stresses to be very vigilant of your surroundings no matter what time of day it may be.
