JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A woman agreed to euthanize her dog after police say it bit her 3-year-old granddaughter.
Friday afternoon Officer Jeff Moore responded to a dog bite call at NEA Baptist, 3024 Stadium, according to the initial incident report.
The child's mother and grandmother said the girl was "hugging" the dog when it bit her.
The child suffered wounds to her right forehead and cheek, and a cut to the head.
After verifying the animal was up to date on its rabies shots, Moore explained the quarantine procedure to the 59-year-old old grandmother.
According to the report, the woman asked about having the dog euthanized and tested.
Moore said arrangements were made with a local veterinarian clinic and the dog was euthanized on Saturday.
He did not cite the dog's owner.
Neither she nor the victim were identified in the police report. Police also did not specify the dog's breed.
