Lawrence, Co--Arkansas Officials remind residents not to forget about state parks this summer when looking for something to do.  According to park officials, the state parks cans be just as exotic as other destinations around the country and there is plenty to do to keep your family busy.

This weekend LakeFest was going on atLake Charles State Park, six miles south of Black Rock on Hwy 25 in Lawrence County.  About 4 thousand people attend the event each year.  The morning got off to a quick start as several anglers took to the lake for a fishing tournament.  Then at noon the car show found out which car was the best.

Lake Charles is known for having the largest free swimming area in this part of the state.  They also have barge tours.  Park officials say they are also excited about new camp ground facilities which will make everyone’s stay that much nicer.

Lake Charles is one of fifty state parks locating here and there across the state.  With the number of state parks, officials say it is hard to believe anyone is more than an hour away from a park, making it easy to jump in your car and go on a moments notice.
